چکیده

It is known that the Clarke generalized directional derivative is nonnegative along the limit directions generated by directional directsearch methods at a limit point of certain subsequences of unsuccessful iterates, if the function being minimized is Lipschitz continuous near the limit point. In this paper we generalize this result for non-Lipschitzian functions using Rockafellar generalized directional derivatives (upper subderivatives). We show that Rockafellar derivatives are also nonnegative along the limit directions of those subsequences of unsuccessful iterates when the function values converge to the function value at the limit point. This result is obtained assuming that the function is directionally Lipschitzian with respect to the limit direction. It is also possible under appropriate conditions to establish more insightful results by showing that the sequence of points generated by these methods eventually approaches the limit point along the locally best branch or step function (when the number of steps is equal to two). The results of this paper are presented for constrained optimization and illustrated numerically.

Strong convergence results for fixed points of nearly weak uniformly L-Lipschitzian mappings of I-Dominated mappings

In this paper, we prove strong convergence results for a modified Mann iterative process for a new class of I- nearly weak uniformly L-Lipschitzian mappings in a real Banach space. The class of I-nearly weak uniformly L-Lipschitzian mappings is an interesting generalization of the class of nearly weak uniformly L-Lipschitzian mappings which inturn is a generalization of the class of nearly unif...

A regularized projection method for complementarity problems with non-Lipschitzian functions

We consider complementarity problems involving functions which are not Lipschitz continuous at the origin. Such problems arise from the numerical solution for differential equations with non-Lipschitzian continuity, e.g. reaction and diffusion problems. We propose a regularized projection method to find an approximate solution with an estimation of the error for the nonLipschitzian complementar...

Various Lipschitz-like Properties for Functions and Sets I: Directional Derivative and Tangential Characterizations

In this work we introduce for extended real valued functions, defined on a Banach space X, the concept of K directionally Lipschitzian behavior, where K is a bounded subset of X. For different types of sets K (e.g., zero, singleton, or compact), the K directionally Lipschitzian behavior recovers well-known concepts in variational analysis (locally Lipschitzian, directionally Lipschitzian, or co...

Limiting Frechet Subdifferentials of Marginal Functions

This paper investigates calculus rules for the limiting Fréchet-subdifferential of infimum value functions of locally Lipschitzian and non-Lipschitzian functions. It is not required that the infimum is attained.
